Our In-School Mentoring Program
The UpliftEducate Mentoring Program focuses on building students’ academic identity and possible future selves while promoting the importance of being educated among Black and Latino male students.
We implement a multi-faceted approach that includes roundtable readings and discussions surrounding the Donovan’s World: 25 Crucial Lessons for Black and Latino Males Curriculum along with other texts, continual professional speaker series, quick one-to-one sessions between student and mentor, and possible-future-selves trips that expose students to colleges and workplaces.
The impact of our program is clear in the quantitative analysis data. Students who participate in the mentoring program experience statistically significant improvements in their grade point average, score higher in a stronger belief in their academic identity and enact more strategies that help them realize their possible future selves. Also, our program has contributed to a reduction in behavioral referrals, highlighting the positive changes in students’ attitudes and decision-making skills. Together, these outcomes demonstrate the power of effective mentorship in empowering young men to envision and achieve their full potential.
Our services can provide mentors to facilitate student mentoring within your school or we can help your school develop its own student mentoring program.
